Monday Night Owl Treats

After a long Monday, I came home to a package from my mother.  The package was full of owl goodies from Michael's.

Owl clothespins, journal, and bag

I love my mom.  She is the sweetest, and I'll owlways love owls and her.

Productive and Fit Sunday

This morning, I had no desire to go to the gym, but I went anyway.

I accidentally took a photo of the ground while I was walking to the gym.
I also hit the mark on my protein, fat, and carbohydrate breakdown.  This is extremely rare.

When is it ever the perfect balance?

My goals for the week are to stay healthy by eating balanced and exercising, get enough sleep, organize and clean our apartment, and kick ass at work.

Liquor Variety Pack Monday

This weekend was the first time in my now nearly 30 years wearing a retainer.  My dentist gave it to me to prevent me from grinding my teeth down to nubbins in my sleep.

It looks like adult braces, and the case makes me feel fourteen.
It's cracked in the back, but from what I've read online that's okay.  It's not as enormous and headgear-like as I expected.

I booked an overnight in D.C. in May and can't wait to see our nation's capital!

Peacock Room at the Freer Gallery here I come!
We finished House of Cards Season Two this weekend.  I also started a filing system at home for the very first time.

This box expanded into two full boxes... this was long overdue.
Tonight was way too cold to go to the gym and so instead I picked up a liquor variety pack on my way home from work.  Hey, "a man's gotta do somethin' to keep warm."

Whiskey, gin, and Chianti
Here's a photo of one of our gray loves on a trash can.

Happy Meow-Day!

John's, Wine, and House of Cards

We ordered John's pizza tonight.  Pizza is good for the soul.

Peppers, olives, and mushrooms.
Pizza and garlic cheese knots
Villadoro Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Vendemmia
We're currently watching House of Cards with wine. Thank goodness tomorrow is Friday!

Eating right for working out?

Things have been overwhelming at work lately, and so I don't have too many fun photos or updates.  I've been working out a lot (for me) lately.  Here's a photo of last night's post-gym hasty meal in front of Real Housewives of New York (doesn't Sonja look amazing this season?!):
Whole wheat pasta covered in Parmesan, roasted broccoli/cauliflower, and a vodka tonic
I thought my 40 minutes on the elliptical earned me a vodka tonic and carbo-loaded meal.  Whole wheat pasta has protein, and I'm pretty sure Parmesan cheese does too.  Tonight's meal was Taco Bell (bean burrito, taco, & nachos) scarfed down within seconds (no photo).

ClassPass automatically renewed my monthly membership, which annoys me along with forces me to work out more.  I did so many yoga classes this month that ClassPass sent me a free tank top.  It's really cute, and I'm discovering that this Next Level Apparel brand is great and a good alternative for people who are creeped out by American Apparel:

ClassPass yoga tank
I'm not sure about the lean or the yoga machine part, but I have been feeling more upper body strength from yoga.  However, when a yoga instructor says to do a handstand "if that's part of your practice," I laugh to myself, because handstands (or worse headstands) and contortions are so not part of my practice.

Recent Tidbits

Here are a few snapshots from the past week or so:
I brought a turkey bacon blt with avocado one day to work and it was yummy.
I think my first pair of Lululemon pants may have been a gateway drug.  I found myself trying on these ridiculous pants today.  I ended up getting a fun tank top instead.
This week, I discovered that Tate's chocolate chip cookies (despite looking dry and thin) are delicious.
Today, my cat discovered that my husband's suit bag and shoes (why are they in the middle of the living room anyway?) make for cozy bedding.
I hope you're having a relaxing weekend!
