Joining Club W

On Instagram, I have been seeing a lot of Club W posts, and when I saw that they have a sale for first time buyers, I jumped at the chance and ordered two bottles of red and one rosé for under $30.  They arrived quickly (within a few business days) and you are able to skip months as part of the membership if you do not want to purchase three bottles of wine or more a month.  I have not yet tried any of my bottles, but so far the experience has been good.

The wine came neatly packed in a tote-style box.

These are dangerous times we live in.  Luxury and excess are just a click of a button away.

Chicken with Crème Fraîche, Shallots, and Parsley

Made a yummy dinner the other night.  It started with some cheese, crackers, and fig spread and then there was chicken, mushrooms, shallots, crème fraîche, and parsley with rice for the main course.

Carbs and protein, is something missing?  Ahh well.

Senior Editor Top

Bought a cute top from Modcloth called the Senior Editor Top. I had to wear a white tank top underneath it, but it's a great top for the office.

Hope

“Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul
And sings the tune without the words
And never stops at all.”

Fabletics Outfit and Rowing

So I bought these cute Lima Capri pants in Moss Camo from Fabletics, and I am totally digging them.  I wore them to my first ever rowing class at Row House in NYC.
On the subway en route to class.

Post workout photo at home, feeling strong and powerful

I really feel that badass camo print is perfect for a rowing class.

Trader Joe's Super Spinach Salad

I tried the Trader Joe's Super Spinach Salad for lunch today, and it was yummy! It's definitely my favorite pre-fab salad of theirs thus far. The dressing was tasty, and all of the ingredients were good.

Slacking on Blogging

This summer has been tough, but overall I heart my life.
Enjoyed this yummy flat white the other day after a workout with a girlfriend.
It has literally been months since I last posted on here. I'll just blame it on work, social life, working out, and family. Things have been busy, and I have been distracted. In an effort to make it up to you, here are some random photos from recent weeks (mostly all food):
Had a delicious lunch the other day of tortilla chips, salsa, guac, and a fish taco... oh, the memories.
I love the West Elm on the UWS and really am obsessed with the brandy snifters on the left.  Didn't buy any though, because isn't it a little alcoholic to have a glass for every kind of liquor?  I'll probably buy two anyway as they remind me of Grace Kelly and Jimmy Stewart in Rear Window.
My husband really loves me and not only makes me breakfast on the weekends, but puts cute pictures in ketchup on the breakfast.
This was for the Fourth of July.
I am obsessed with Shake Shack's cheese fries.  The little wooden fork is perfection.  We go here way more often than is appropriate, but this was my first time insisting on my own cheese fries.
In addition to working out more, I'm upping my vitamin game with a multivitamin, iron supplement, and b6.

Anthropologie Birthday Party

The Anthropologie on the Upper East Side threw a special birthday party last month for any Anthro members celebrating birthdays in April.  It seemed like a cute concept and I love a discount; so I went to the event after a long day at work.

There were Prosecco cocktails that you could sip while trying on clothes and an adorable candy station

This top is bananas
My new spring dress!  Only downside is it's dry clean only.
Cute new maxi skirt - love shopping with a cocktail in hand!
I spent waaay too much money for my birthday at Anthropologie, but I love that they treat their loyal customers well!

The Smitten Kitchen Cookbook - Tomato-Glazed Meatloaves with Brown Butter Mashed Potatoes

Meatloaf has never been my thing, but my husband loves it.  I decided to try a recipe for it from the cookbook The Smitten Kitchen Cookbook.  It was fantastic!

The Smitten Kitchen Cookbook is new to our home and this was the first recipe we tried from it (note all the post-its marking other recipes I want to try).
The finished product next to the picture from the cookbook - tasted better than it looked!
A mouthful of meatloaf and mashed potatoes - very flavorful and hearty!

Succulents

I bought some succulents at Trader Joe's for a shelf in our living room, and I'm quite pleased/think it adds good energy:

Trader Joe's Crispy Cookies Filled with Belgian Chocolate are essentially Pepperidge Farm Milano cookies, but better.

Breakfast Pizza

I finally got to be lazy and sleep in this morning!  After having my coffee in my pajamas, I finally decided to make breakfast around 1 p.m.  I felt inspired to make breakfast pizza.
Owly morning coffee in Nick and Nora PJ's with Anthropologie mug

I sauteed onion and frozen spinach together and lightly baked Trader Joe's pizza dough with olive oil at 400 degrees for about two minutes before using Trader Joe's pizza sauce, a blend of cheeses, oregeno, garlic powder, and spinach blend on pizza.  I then hollowed out three holes in this conglomaration to put three eggs.

Then I put the entire pizza back in the overn for 10 minutes.  After ten minutes, the eggs still weren't cooked so I jacked our crappy oven up to 450 degrees and put the pan at the very back of the oven for three more minutes.  Now we were talking and I took the pizza out, grated parmesan over it and ground some pepper on top, then put it back in the oven at 400 degrees for another couple of minutes.

After removing the pizza and letting it cool for two minutes, we dug in to our delicious breakfast.

Newest Wall Art Addition: Fireworks at Ryogoku by Ando Hiroshige from ART.COM

I mentioned in a previous post that when we were in Washington, D.C. we fell in love with the Japanese artist Kiyochika's work; especially his prints featuring nighttime themes that used beautiful shades of blue.  Unfortunately, there are not good prints of his works available; so I finally gave up and started looking for similar works by other Japanese artists.  I wanted blues, because that is the color we use the most in our bedroom and I think it's a nice relaxing nighttime color.  Fireworks at Ryogoku by Ando Hiroshige was the closest thing I could find to Kiyochika.

Poster's new home in our bedroom

ART.COM was great, the picture was 40% off and considering it included framing, very reasonably priced.  I am super happy with it, and it goes perfectly with the blue lamp we have from Gracious Home.  It also goes well with this adorable owl drawing we already had in the room.

Cute little owl drawing near new Anthropologie carved wooden jewelry box in turquoise* - the blues are starting to pull the room together just in time for us to hopefully move this summer!
*Whoever the current Anthropologie home section buyer is, you are doing an excellent job; same goes for Urban Outfitters.  I assume they are the same people.  I have spent around $250 in the last month on little house items from both stores.  Keep up the good work!

Bits from the Week

Last weekend, I got my first gel manicure ever.  I chose Essie's Amusing Bouche as it is subtle and similar to Madoiselle.

My nails day 1
A week later, still looking good
I also got my hair cut this week and grabbed a quick dinner at Panera beforehand.

Chicken Caesar salad and broccoli cheddar soup
My wine of choice lately is the 2010 Château Recougne Bordeaux Supérieur, and my husband and I split a couple of bottles over the course of the week to get through these last (hopefully) few days of winter.

Homemade Mexican Pizza

I used leftovers from the tostadas we made to make a homemade Mexican Pizza.

I used two fried tortillas, refried beans chicken for the filling, taco sauce and salsa, a Mexican cheese blend, green onions, black olives (like the Taco Bell Mexician pizza from back in the day), and fresh tomatoes.
