Weekend in the Poconos

We went to the Poconos this past weekend and stayed with a bunch of friends in a cabin.  It was cozy and completely relaxed.

There was a lot of snow up there.
Nothing beats hanging out with a bunch of friends by a...

...roaring fire.

Last Week Round-Up

After not posting much last week, I thought I'd give an update on a few minor developments:

My parents sent us a tin of popcorn for Valentine's Day, cute and yummy.
I got a pedicure and the aesthetician wrapped my feet like leftovers in plastic wrap.
Breakfast of an Office Drudge: Coffee and a Blueberry Scone at my desk.
I tried doing yoga in front of the t.v., but my mat was bogarted by a tabby.
I bought my first pair of lululemon pants and I'm pretty pleased; sized up to a size 8 as they don't do vanity sizing.
Diamond pattern of pants
My husband made tajine with chicken, prunes, olives, butternut squash, and couscous.

Farwell to Blue Apron

This was the last week that we are having Blue Apron, because of delivery issues (they left the box in our lobby/didn't buzz us or come to our door/it arrived hours late and if I hadn't checked online compulsively it would have sat out all night).  I can't wait around all night for a delivery; especially not when the delivery person doesn't even let us know it's arrived.  I'd like to think I have better ways of spending my time.  The food was good, but I like to decide what I'm going to make on any given night.  Here's a look back on our final week of Blue Apron recipes:

Tuscan Ribollita Soup with Soft-Boiled Farm Eggs and Lacinato Kale
This was really good, but extremely filling and fibrous.
Taleggio & Olive Tapenade Cheese Sandwiches with Spiced Citrus Jewel Salad
The salad was awful/should have just been greens with vinaigrette.
The sandwich and cheese choice were excellent.
Eggplant & Soba Noodles with Taiwanese Bok Choy
I put Sriracha on this bowl of noodles.  Pretty good.
Dear Blue Apron, thanks for the memories.  Lasership, what's your damage?

Valentine's Day 2014

Is everyone getting a three day weekend?  I hope so — it's so nice to have tomorrow to clean, beautify, and exercise.  We started Orange is the New Black this weekend and I think we'll be done with the first season after tomorrow night :-)  My Valentine's Day in a nutshell:

I arrived at work to discover goodies on my sweet colleague/friend got me a cupcake (and mini bottle of wine).  Such a sweetheart!
After a long day at work, I came home and was delighted to find that my new Warby Parker Percey glasses had arrived.  They are super cute, but my eyes are still adjusting to the stronger prescription.  When you're my level of blind, cute glasses are hard to find.
My husband loves Ballast Point Sculpin IPA; so for Valentine's Day I got him a six pack from Whole Foods.
My sweet husband not only made me dinner, but he also got me this bouquet of roses from Trader Joe's.  I feel very blessed to have good friends and family.

Class Pass - The Artist Formerly Known as Classtivity

So this month, I bought a Class Pass (formerly Classtivity) and I've done spinning three times, Barre once, hot yoga once, and Barry's Boot Camp once.  I love it!! It's such a good deal and very motivational.  Tonight was the Class Pass launch party at The Ainsworth.
After a fun spin class at Revolve, I stopped by the party to pick up my bag of swag.
I really love the tank and water bottle.
Thanks Class Pass for helping me "Live the Sweaty Life!"

Cozy Pa-nang Curry Chicken
I picked up three framed pictures that I will post about soon.  Happy Monday!!!

Then we had lunch at Emporio in SoHo/Nolita:
The fries were amazing!!!  I would come back just for the fries.

Red BELLA Coffeemaker

In addition to losing my computer's hard drive this week, I also lost a coffee pot.  Our Mr. Coffee ceased to function one morning.  Luckily, I have a French press; otherwise, there would have been hell to pay for the rest of the day.  Our new red BELLA coffeemaker:

A Week in Review - Goodbye January!

Here are some events from this past week:

1.) I started playing candy crush and proceeded to get stuck on this level...

So close... just one more jelly!!
2.) I bought a Classtivity ClassPass ($99 for 10 classes in 30 days) and have already tried a spin and a Barry's Bootcamp class.  Amazing.

My bike for spin class
3.) What I ate Wednesday: Taco Bell Edition

Mexican Pizza hold the meat
Nachos with cheese
Ruffino Pinot Grigio
4.) I saw King Lear at BAM, and it was amazing.

My ticket and playbill
Set before the show
5.) I went to Trader Joe's in Chelsea tonight and went a little crazy as usual.

Two full bags of random groceries getting ready to schlep on the subway.
Freeze Dried Strawberries
These are like Kellogg's Special K Red Berries without the Special K.  So good!!
Trader Joe's Arancini Bites
My dinner of rice balls with Fontina cheese.
Here's to the weekend and to a new month!!

Bangaladumpa Upma Koora - Blue Apron

We made the rest of the Blue Apron recipes this past week.  Here are some photos of the Bangaladumpa Upma Koora.  The stuffed cabbage was gross and looked gross; so I did not take any pictures.
Ingredients and recipe card
Stirring the stew that includes curry leaves
Blurry photo of meal, good, but not great

Sushi and the Loss of a Hard Drive

I've been MIA this week, because last weekend shortly after I took these photos of our sushi dinner my hard drive died.
Rolls and Edamame
Mexican roll, salmon and avocado, shrimp tempura, and spicy spider roll
You should see a hard drive here, but there's none...

I thought it might just be a cable issue, but the next day when I went to Apple, they told me my hard drive was gone and needed to be replaced.  I had not backed up on Time Machine in over two years!  $170 later, and I have a functional computer.  Word to the wise: back up your computers!!!
