Mani/Pedi and Tuesday Treats

Mani/Pedi and Tuesday Treats
The weekend is over--it was a full one with outings to the High Line, Russ & Daughters, and Bryant Park.  Now it's back to the grind, which frankly kind of stank today and included a dentist appointment where I was told I have at least two cavities.  I decided to cheer myself up by going to Victoria's Secret to use my coupons for a free hiphugger and $10 off on a bra.  I found out that I am actually a C-cup and not a B-cup... yea?  The bra I chose is adorable and comfortable.  It's the Body by Victoria Demi Bra in black.  Then I went to Citarella and bought some goodies.  I'm now reveling in my mani-pedi from yesterday and drinking a glass of red wine.  What a treat!

Anthropologie Green Wooden Pennant Necklace

Anthropologie Green Wooden Pennant Necklace

Back in April, I saw this adorable wooden green necklace at Anthropologie.  It was a bit expensive for looking like a child's craft project; so I held off on buying it.

Then this week, I was watching Pretty Little Liars (I know I am too old to watch this teen drama, but I really like the clothes) and saw that the character Aria was wearing the cute necklace I had seen a few months earlier.  Luckily, it was still at Anthro and on sale ($29.95); so I ventured over to the nearest store and bought it.  I think it will be cute with a basic black jersey material dress.

Saturday Confessions

How I am spending my Saturday:

Drinking Petit Cochon Bronze Rosé and eating:

Ruffles Cheddar and Sour Cream Potato Chips, while watching the ID Channel... yikes, that's shameful; yet wonderful.

The other day, I decided to go against my milk chocolate instinct and buy a bar of dark chocolate to go with a cup of espresso:

I bought a bar of Ghirardelli Intense Dark Midnight Reverie that tastes similar to chalk to go with my "Cosi" nespresso.  My husband prefers arpeggio nespresso.

I think I prefer the Endangered Species Extreme Dark Chocolate over the Ghirardelli one, partially because it benefits endangered species and has a black panther on the wrapper, but mostly because it tastes good.  You can get them at most health food stores.  In my case, that's "The Health Nuts."

Pig Rosé and Diptyque Candles

Pig Rosé and Diptyque Candles
It's been a good week so far.  We have some exciting travel plans coming up: a canoe/camping trip with some friends over Labor Day Weekend and Thanksgiving with my husband's family in France.  I splurged and bought a few bottles of wine from Fresh Direct (they now have wine from Union Square Wines).  I purchased this beauty based solely on the bottle design of a pig:

At a work event earlier in the season, I stole a couple of Diptyque candles from the gift bags. Tonight I decided to bust one out for our bathroom:

Ali Fedotowsky - Hair Magazine

Bachelorette Ali Fedotowsky - Hair Model

A couple of months back, I went home to Illinois for my sister's wedding.  We had to get spray tans in my little home town. While waiting in the hair and tanning salon for my spray tan, I flipped through some hair magazines and was surprised to find Ali Fedotowsky from the Bachelor and Bachelorette was one of the random girls modeling haircuts.  Afterwards, we hit up the Olive Garden for some unlimited salad and breadsticks.  I love the Midwest.

Philadelphia Weekend

Philadelphia Weekend

This past weekend, my husband and I met up with my parents in Philadelphia to see the Barnes Foundation.  We stayed at the Independent Hotel, a small "boutique" hotel.  It was cute and affordable, but I hurt my leg on the over-sized bed that barely fit in our room.  Still have the bruise.

We ate at a few Stephen Starr restaurants in Philadelphia, including Parc on Rittenhouse Square, Il Pittore, and Route 6 (which is where these photos are from):

I ordered a Cottrell Old Yankee Ale

Crab Cake with Delicious Cole Slaw - My husband had the best dish, which was diver scallops with little calamari/squid

Nothing wrong with a bucket of mallets, lobster bibs, and various shellfish-eating accoutrements.

My dad got lobster, yum.

In keeping with the seafood theme, my mom bought me an adorable octopus scratch pad from Paper Source.  Side note: I still haven't gone to the store in SoHo.

It was a wonderful weekend, and the new Barnes Foundation building is incredible.  Could Barnes have had just a few more Renoirs or Matisses?  Our cats were so happy, when we got home.  Here's a photo of our little -or not so little- tabby on our Pottery Barn "Mia" bedding.

I recently donated to WNYC and have been looking forward to my complimentary tote bag.  It arrived while we were away; and the minute I took it out, our gray and white cat become obsessed/possessive of it:

I love national public radio!

Don't steal my tote, mom!
